Christmas is only 178 days away...!!

Ok, so all non crafting people are sat there still waiting for the UK Summer thinking that Christmas is still a long way off but in the card crafting world it's time to make a start on the Christmas cards.

I have made a couple of cards which I will post later but here is one of them.  The digital image is by Alice Smith of www.clipart4resale.com  This is a lovely site for inexpensive digital images both coloured in or just the outlines.  I picked the outline image and coloured it in using promarkers.

The card stock is all from my stash which I have had for a few years now and I used a sizzix embossing folder to get the dots.  The snowflakes are from a Marks & Spencer gift card I was given and I have added gems to them. The holly is from a little hand punch and again I have added gems.

The wording was just printed from my computer. I used a scallop edged card for this one:

My In Laws 50th Wedding Anniversary

It's my in-law's 50th Wedding Anniversary this weekend and I have spent the last couple of days making a card for them.

I struggled a little with this one so just want to say thank you to two members of the Docraft community as the anniversary cards they posted in the Docraft gallery were good inspiration.

murphy-millie's card helped me with the colours and I took part of my verse from her card and cleo's card gave me the idea for using the hearts.

The main card is standard pearlescent cream card. The centre circle, hearts, large flowers and flourishes have all been cut using sizzix dies.  The smaller flowers are from a punch.  The butterfly was cut out of card and layered and I added sparkling sticker dots to the body and parts of the wings (doesn't show up on this picture).  I also used gold stickers for the lines and all the dots along with the '50'.

So here is the card shown stood up:

The view inside page one. I printed my sentiment onto plain white vellum:

The second page is just some paper I had in my stash. Although you cannot see it very well on the photo;s, the pattern shows through the vellum:

This is how the first page looks open:

Last one of the card shown when its lying down:

Because of the size of the card and the butterfly which I didn't want to flatten by using a standard envelope I also made a box for the card. I made it from some Laura Ashley 12 x 12 papers I got for Christmas. The ribbon is off a chocolate box which I 'saved' and the hearts, flowers and tags are all cut using sizzix dies:

Well, I hope they like it!
