Second mask finished and left overs

Happy Easter everyone and what lovely weather we are having today. Got loads done so far, painted the bathroom this morning and popped to the shops straight after. Had to go to Pets at Home and had a fuss from a 9 week old Spaniel puppy and a huge Akita.

Crafting wise this is the other mask I was working on. Like the first one I used alcohol inks on white vinyl, this time using Blue colours. I then used the Cameo to cut out shapes and added blue gem stickers to finish. The two masks will be displayed in my craft room when I decide where on the wall I would like them.

I had a few off cuts left over from this project and I decided to see what they would look like on a card. For these two cards I used my 'Butterfly Trail' cutting file which you can download free (just click on the downloads tab at the top of my blog).

I used Pearlised white card for the base and I will probably add a few dots of liquid pearls to finish them off. I am going to leave the sentiment off for now as I think these could be used for a few different occasions:

I have a couple of Birthday cards to make this weekend and a Wedding card but for the next hour or so I am going to make the most of the sunshine. Hope you all have a great Bank Holiday weekend x

It's been a good week

I have had a really good week this week.

I received my first order from Papermill and I am very impressed with both the quality of the card and the high level of good customer service I received. They have definitely got themselves another loyal customer. I decided to place an order for some of their maroon card which was on offer and black, smooth white and linen white card all jumped into the basket too.

The maroon card is so rich in colour so I put it through its paces first buy cutting it on the Cameo as a Butterfly easel card and then embossing it. I still have to add something to stop the butterfly from closing but here is the card so far:

It didn't really need anything else doing to the main butterfly but I added a little Gilding Wax to highlight the embossing and a few jewels so that the wings would sparkle when moved. Behind the smaller butterfly I did add a lighter card just so it would stand out more against the base:

On a non - crafting note we went to see the Harlem Globetrotters on Monday night. I can remember watching them on TV with my Dad when I was younger - this and wrestling (Big Daddy and Giant Haystacks) was the only sport I would watch. So it was kind of a childhood dream to see them. My favourite player on the night was 'Stretch' and at 7' 4" it was a good name for him - he could score without having to jump up to the ring:

On Tuesday a childhood friend of my Dad gave him two photo's that he had found of my Dad when he was a young boy. My Dad has nothing from his childhood so it meant a lot to him and it was fantastic to see what he looked like as a child. My Dad also let me borrow a load of memorabilia that my mum kept from the miners strike so I am going to be busy this weekend going through it all and taking photo's. Will see what I can upload to the blog is anyone is interested in a little history.

And the last piece of good news I had was that I reached target at Slimming World and it feels fantastic!

Hope you have all had a good week to and look forward to visiting your blogs to see what you have been up to x

First Box Card for Mothers Day

Ughh, what horrible weather we are having at the moment with all the smog, hope everyone is managing to stay safe and well.

Anyway, this was my first attempt at a box card and was for my mother in law for Mothers day.

The box was made from one piece of A4 card and decorated with papers from a Dovecraft 8 x 8 paper pack called Curiosty Corner. The flowers and butterflies are all cut using the Cameo and I used acetate strips to give more volume to the box:

I used Candi in the centre of each flower and Perfect Pearls in the butterflies. In the next photo you can see a butterfly in the right hand corner of the box which has been attached to a strip of acetate so that it appears to be flying:

I really enjoyed making this type of card although decorating it with the flowers was a little fiddly. I think I will be making this style of card quite a few times for friends.

Hope you liked the card and hope you all have a great weekend x
