Create a Card - We Three Kings

It's mid week already, the weekend is just around the corner and Christmas is just one month away. So here is another Christmas card made with the wonderful Create a Card Die 'We Three Kings' from Crafter's Companion

This is a very simple box card and I followed the Youtube posting by Crafter's Companion to make it. If you want to have a go here is the link to their video: Box Card

The background was made using Spectrum Noir Aquatints on Centura Pearl. I used Centura Pearl because I wanted soft pastel looking colours with a bit of a sparkle.

With the Die still on the card I used silver Gilding wax to cover the embossed areas which makes the Three Kings stand out. A couple of gems and this card was done.

Die'Sire Create A Card - O' Holy Night

The Create A Card die's are so detailed and make such a lovely card. My mother in law has asked me to make some Christmas cards for charity and I am going to duplicate this design a couple of times because it is so easy to do.

This is my first attempt at a side step easel card and has gone on my list of favourite fold. All I did was layer the die cut and add a Poinsettia & Ivy:

Well, not long now till Christmas, I just have a few cards left to make and I can safely say I am all ready for the day.

Thanks for popping by x

Tutorial - Envelope Invitation using Die’Sire Create A Card Spring Garden

This is a tutorial on how to make an envelope invitation using the Die'Sire Create A Card Spring Garden Die from Crafter's Companion

Here is the what they look like completed:

Step 1 – You will need four circles to complete this project and you can cut out two per A4 sheet of card. Place your die at the top of the A4 card and run through your die cutting machine once to cut and then once more to emboss

Step 2 – We now need to create a circle so using your die as the template place it below the cut out part, line it up and draw around the die with a pencil. It does not have to be perfect so don’t worry that the pencil outline is slightly larger as this is going to form the base of your envelope.

Step 3 – Cut along your pencil lines but at the sides you need to cut in slightly so you line up with the die cut out line. Again don’t worry, it doesn’t need to be a perfect circle because this forms the base and will be covered up.

Step 4 – You will need four of these circles in total so repeat the process another three times. Using Distress Inks colour the die cut side of the circle. For extra definition once the ink has dried place the die back over the card and use the ink again on the embossed areas.

Step 5 – Fold each circle in half – the die has left an indent to guide you so just score along this line and fold.

Step 6 – Next we need to stick them together. Open them all out and have the inked side facing down.  When they are all stuck together each one will overlap the other and this will create a square shaped middle. So that we know where to put the glue place them together as shown here:

Step 7 – Using a pencil draw a feint line around each overlap (as shown here):

Step 8 – Separate the circles and add the glue in the small area marked by the pencil (all your pencil lines should cover the same area on the left hand side of each circle). I used a couple of strips of red tape and covered the rest of the area in tacky glue. Put a little tacky glue on the red tape as well so it will help you to move the circles into position more easily

Step 9 – Carefully stick the circles together making sure you overlap one circle with another (use the pencil lines to guide you). The tacky glue will give you a few minutes to slide the circles into place.

Step 10 – Cut a piece of patterned or coloured paper 14cm x 14cm and stick this inside the envelope. Print our stamp your invitation details and stick inside.

Step 11 – Decide how you want to close the envelope. You can overlap the flaps (as shown by the blue one), or if you want a flatter card, you can use ribbon (as shown with the pink one). All that is left is for you to decorate it as you like. For these I just added pearls.

New Create-A-Card Overlays (Everyday) - Doily Rectangle

Our home has been turned upside down all this week but the decorating is now completed, only the wooden floors left to do which are booked in for a couple of weeks time. Unfortunately this means that I still cannot put my craft room back together so I am starting to get withdrawal symptoms now....so I have been doing some retail therapy instead!

I wanted to show you two more Accordian cards I made using the new overlays from Crafter's Companion. I enjoyed making the Baby Boy card that much I decided to duplicate it in pink for a Baby Girl. So here they are:

The overlay is very pretty without the gems but I love a little bling. They overlay has little holes in it so placing the gems was very easy.

The cloths, teddy, bunting, balloons and stars have all been cut from Silhouette Cameo files. I added 3D crystal laquer to the balloons to give them a lovely shiny finish.

I used Crafter's Companion 1" Contemporary word die's for the words, they were the perfect size for this card.

Hope you like them and thank you for visiting x

New Create-A-Card Overlays (Everyday) - Daisy

Do you ever have a great idea for a card but the one you make turns out to look nothing like it. Well this is one of those cards. I started this off with a friend in mind but I just couldn't get it to look right so left it to one side.  I never stick anything down so when I picked it back up a couple of days later I completely changed it (I still have all the bits I was going to use on the desk next to me).

So here is my card which I made using the rectangle Accordian die from Crafter's Companion and the new Daisy overlay:

I have to pack up my room this weekend as we are decorating half of our home and having wooden floors fitted so I may not get to do much crafting (already getting withdrawal symptoms). Hope you all have more of a craft weekend planned x
