It's been a good week

I have had a really good week this week.

I received my first order from Papermill and I am very impressed with both the quality of the card and the high level of good customer service I received. They have definitely got themselves another loyal customer. I decided to place an order for some of their maroon card which was on offer and black, smooth white and linen white card all jumped into the basket too.

The maroon card is so rich in colour so I put it through its paces first buy cutting it on the Cameo as a Butterfly easel card and then embossing it. I still have to add something to stop the butterfly from closing but here is the card so far:

It didn't really need anything else doing to the main butterfly but I added a little Gilding Wax to highlight the embossing and a few jewels so that the wings would sparkle when moved. Behind the smaller butterfly I did add a lighter card just so it would stand out more against the base:

On a non - crafting note we went to see the Harlem Globetrotters on Monday night. I can remember watching them on TV with my Dad when I was younger - this and wrestling (Big Daddy and Giant Haystacks) was the only sport I would watch. So it was kind of a childhood dream to see them. My favourite player on the night was 'Stretch' and at 7' 4" it was a good name for him - he could score without having to jump up to the ring:

On Tuesday a childhood friend of my Dad gave him two photo's that he had found of my Dad when he was a young boy. My Dad has nothing from his childhood so it meant a lot to him and it was fantastic to see what he looked like as a child. My Dad also let me borrow a load of memorabilia that my mum kept from the miners strike so I am going to be busy this weekend going through it all and taking photo's. Will see what I can upload to the blog is anyone is interested in a little history.

And the last piece of good news I had was that I reached target at Slimming World and it feels fantastic!

Hope you have all had a good week to and look forward to visiting your blogs to see what you have been up to x

  9. Hi Angela, I enjoyed your blog post today. I was listening to a programme on Radio 4 about the miners strike this week, probably available on listen again if you're interested (think it's called the reunion). Fab card, love the look of gilding waxes to bring out the embossing. And I also remember the Harlem Glonetrotters, Big Daddy and Giant Haystacks from my childhood. Can't believe we never realised that the results were all fixed! We were all so naive in those days. Maddy x
