Birthday Boy - Alien Box Card

Request - I have just joined Twitter and am trying to build up followers and people I follow so if you are on Twitter please look me up (I am Tattypuds on there too) x

This weekend I wanted to share with you a commission I did a couple of weeks ago. A work colleague asked if I could make a card for her Grandson's 3rd Birthday and apart from that small amount of info she left the entire design to me.

I was so nervous when I showed her the finished design but she loved it so here it is:

I love box cards and have several half way finished at the moment but this is the first one I have attempted for a boy. The Alien is a digi image but despite looking everywhere I cannot find where I got it from. If anyone recognises it could you let me know as I would love to see what else they have and give them credit for this one.

Thank you as always for taking the time to visit and hope you all have a lovely weekend x

Sneek Peek - New Edge'ables Die's - Happy Birthday

I am so excited about the DT project we have been working on because I had so much fun using the new Edge’ables dies to make this project!

Here is a sneek peek of one of the cards I made using one of the dies.

This is a Z fold card and for this project I used the brand new Edge'able die 'Happy Birthday,' Centura pearl card, papers from Scruffy Little Cat paper pack, Barkley image coloured with Spectrum Noirs (IG1, IG2, IG4, IG6, IG8). I also used some Spray & Sparkle (irridescent) on the background paper.

If you want to see more Fiona Clayton, Crafter’s Companion is on Create & Craft TV & Ideal World from Monday here is the schedule (times could change):

For another sneek peek visit Crafters Companions Pinterest page: Edge'ables and Die'sire Classiques Only Words

Hope you all have a great Bank Holiday weekend x

3D Country Cottage (Crafters Companion)

This is another project I completed as part of the DT for Crafters Companion. It's a gorgeous 3D cottage template and the roof comes off making it a perfect gift box.

Here is my attempt:

Everything you need to make this comes with the template so the only extra's I added were the flowes and the fence. Here is the view from around the sides:

This template will be fantastic for Halloween (for candy) and Christmas (for soaps etc).

Here is what I used:
Country Cottage Template
Timeless A3 Card
Textures Embossing Folder - Dry Stone Wall
Gilding Wax (Renaissance Gold)
Centura Pearl (Door / Window / Fence)
Distress Inks (Antique Linen)
Die'sire Essentials Flowers for all Ocassions 3
Gems
Tim Holtz Distress Collection Card (Flowers)
Red Tape / Collall Glue

Thanks for taking the time to visit and hope you all have a great weekend x

My first Crafters Companion DT make - 3D Hot Air Balloon

I wanted to share with you the first thing I have made as part of the Crafters Companion Die'sire Design Team. This has been made using the Hot Air Balloon template and was just so easy to assemble and I love the 3D element.

I used A3 card from the Timeless pack which folded beautifully into place. I will post a full list of what I used at the bottom of this post but here are a few photo's:

I had purchased the full set of Textures embossing folders last year and I have been using them so much lately. For this project  I used the Basket Weave embossing folder for the basket and used a little Gilding Wax to highlight it:

List of things used:
Hot Air Balloon template
Timeless A3 card
Textures embossing folder - Basket weave
Tim Holtz Distress Collection card (for flowers / leaves)
Ribbon and gems from stash
Red tape
Collall glue

I really do love this and I am already making my next one in pink for a friend who is expecting a baby girl. The basket is perfect  to hold a small gift. I will show you the finished project in a few weeks but I have put an eyelet at the top and threaded ribbon through so that it can be hung up in the nursery.

Thank you for stopping by and hope you all have a lovely weekend x

Tarmac Technique

Someone from my DT team shared a link to a 'Tarmac Technique' and I loved the metallic look of the finished projects everyone was showing so decided to give it a go.

Here is a link to the lady who's blog I got all the instructions from: Karen - Tarmac Technique, I just wish she lived nearer because I would just love to attend her workshops.

I started with a canvas and stuck on a variety of cut out shapes from my odds and ends box (this is fabulous for using all those things you have cut out but ended up not using. I added some pieces of card I had embossed for texture and some candi which had been damaged so would be no good for cards etc. I also used some old flowers that I should have really thrown away years ago but kept...just in case.

Then I painted it all with acrylic paint (cerulean blue hue). This needs to be completely dry before moving to the next step. Here is what it looked like at this point:

It looks terrible!! Next step was the Bitumen solution (50% Bitumen and 50% white spirit). Now Karen's blog says this is the messy bit and boy it is. Even though I laid out newspaper I still managed to get this solution splattered all up the wall, over my computer, the mouse, my desk and I probably had more on my hands than on the canvas. Here is what it looks like after this bit:

I left this for a couple of days to dry properly. Next you take a soft cloth and white spirits and dab away at the canvas which removes the Bitumen solution. However, it leaves a kind of metallic sheen behind and some very interesting shadows. However, when I attempt this again I will wear some rubber gloves because my hands just got covered with the solution.

Here is the what it looks like now. I am leaving it for a few days and may go back and take a little more of the solution off but overall I am quite happy with the results and thinks this will look fabulous with a black frame.

Hope you like it and thanks for popping over - have a great weekend x
