Die'sire Mixed Media Blossoming Tree - Wall Hanging

It's my mixed media samples again. This was my first time at making a wall hanging from a cardboard box.

To do this you need one of those thicker cardboard boxes, the ones that have corrugated card just under the top layer. Cut out as many panels as you want for the wall hanging at any size...I chose 2 panels and they measure 8" x 8".

Dampen one side of the panel with water and leave for a few minutes to let the water soak in. Then very gentle peel off the top layer of card to reveal the corrugated card beneath but don't peel the entire top layer off, leave some showing in random patterns. Leave to dry and then paint with a light layer of White Gesso (this is optional).

To give you an idea here is a photo of the finished wall hanging.

Take a piece of backing paper and tear sections off to create a base. I have inked the rough edges to highlight them and also curled some of the edges. Stamp on a sentiment (if required) and then glue this to the cardboard.

Cut out your mixed media shapes and decorate the panel.

I used a Cropadile to punch two holes into each panel and attach eyelets (for strength) along with some twine to fasten them together.

I hope you liked this enough to give it a go x
