All you need in life is a friend with chocolate

I am loving the challenges on House Mouse & Friends Challenge Blog because they are running with some great themes which are really making me think about what to do.

I am going to enter this weeks card into the HMFMC#188 Friends challenge. This challenge happened at the perfect time because its one of my close friends birthday in a couple of weeks and she is a chocoholic so I put this one together for her.

So here is my entry:

The base card is 8 x 8 and I used papers from the Daydream paper pad and the Sweet Owl paper pad. I have used Burgundy card as the backing colour. The brown card at the bottom was embossed using one of the new Textures embossing folders called Hessian.

The flowers and sentiment have all been printed / cut using the Cameo and I have used some Bakers Twine along the centre of the card. Promarkers for the little mice and to finish off, glossy accents on the flower centres and the Jar.

Thank you for visiting, have a great weekend everyone x

First Scrapbook Page

One of my resolutions this year was to try making some scrapbook pages and my aim is to try to complete one a month.

This is my first one and it's of our little kitty who sadly died last year. She had the most gorgeous coloured fur so I decided to match my colours to this. Its a 12x12 page and is another first for me. I do find the larger things difficult to make at the momemt which is probably because I made atc's for such a long time (which are 2.5" x 3.5").

Each piece has been mounted onto dark brown card. The white layer is actually vellum which has a sparkle to it.I mounted this onto a sheet of paper which had script on it after I had used inks to shade around the edges. The 'Pookie' has been cut in dark brown and brown card stock and when I glued them together I offset them slightly to give it a shadow effect. (This was a technique I saw on YouTube and I love the effect it gives).

The two kitties at the bottom left of the page are to represent Pookie and her brother Bobo who passed away shortly after Pookie. They were so close so this pair were perfect. My next scrapbook project is to do a page for Bobo.

Well, we walked around Derwent Dam this morning and it snowed on and off. Beautiful scenery and definitely going to do more pages with the photos I took (perhaps smaller ones though). Here are a couple of photo's:

That is me in the photo and just in case it doesn't look like it, it was really really really cold....

Thank you for popping by, have a great weekend and stay warm everyone x

Something is in the air...

Happy Valentines Day for tomorrow everyone x

This is the first time I have attempted an 8 x 8 card but because the stamped image was so large it was lost on the smaller sized cards.

This is another House Mouse stamp which I have never used before but is perfect for the current challenge over on the House Mouse & Friends Challenge Blog I am entering this one into the 'Love is in the air' challenge HMFMC#187:

The papers are from the Blank Canvas paper pad and I used an embossing for one piece. I mounted all the backing papers onto burgundy card. The mice were coloured using Promarkers - Cocoa and Caramel for one and Cool Grey 3 & 4 for the other. I also used Soft Peach and Tan for the faces, paws and tails. Here is a close up:

I cut out the word Love and all the hearts on the Silhouette Cameo. The large ones at the bottom are two cut outs which I layered together and then I used 3D crystal lacquer to give them a glossy raised look:

Thank you for stopping by, hope you liked the card and have a great weekend everyone x

Card in a box - Gorjuss Girls

Last year I made several cards from a decoupage kit and while I liked the finished results I decided not to buy anymore of the kits. However, one of my friends who received a card loved it that much that she decided (unbeknownst to me) that she would buy me all of the gorjuss girl decoupage kits for Christmas.

So I decided to try something a little different and here are the some of the results:

The gorjuss girls are from the decoupage sheets (although not layered up). I selected similar coloured papers from my stash and cut out flowers, leaves, hearts and birds. These have all been attached using acetate strips. I used Candi for the flower centres and a few stickers for the sentiments and I absolutely love the finished cards.

The best thing about it is, I only used one decoupage image so I still have a lot left over to either repeat the process or think of something else to do with them. I have put one of these aside for my friends birthday this year.

Here are a few more:

Hope you all have a great weekend, stay warm everyone x
